As you likely know, Hurricane Melissa has caused significant damage to the Montego Bay area, and the convention center and hotel will likely require extensive repairs.

In consultation with our Jamaican  adolescent health leaders, we will be changing our 2025 Congress to two separate meetings. The IAAH Virtual Congress, Part I will have all plenary, hot topics, and keynote sessions and some youth program speakers.  Part II will be scheduled for a later time and have abstracts, posters, and workshops at a future date after our colleagues in Jamaica have a better sense of their recovery timeline.

You can find answers to Frequently Asked Questions below.

Our thoughts continue to be with everyone in the affected areas. We appreciate your flexibility as we make this necessary pivot to an online program.

Frequently Asked Questions:

IAAH Virtual World Congress

What will the Virtual Congress Part I entail?

The virtual Congress will include keynote speakers, plenaries, hot topics, and part of our youth programming. You can see the agenda here

When will the Virtual Congress be held?

The IAAH Virtual Congress Part I (plenaries, keynote, youth track plenary, and hot topic talks) will be held November 6-8, 2025.

How can I register for the Virtual Congress Part I?

If you have already registered for the World Congress, you are automatically registered for the Virtual Congress. We will be sending you a link to sign up for the broadcast link. If you had not signed up for the World Congress and would like to attend the Virtual Congress, Part I, you can register here.

How can I log into the Virtual Congress, Part I?

If you have already registered for the World Congress, you should have received an email with details about how to register with CVENT, our online platform for the Virtual Congress. Follow the instructions in that email. Be sure to save your Confirmation Number to log in on the day of the sessions.

Will the Virtual Congress, Part I be recorded?

Yes, sessions will be saved. You will see an option to “Watch Recording” when you log into the attendee hub for any completed sessions.

I was scheduled to present my work at the Congress. Will I get a chance to do that?

Yes. After the November 6-8 events, we will schedule IAAH Virtual Congress Part II which will include workshop, research platform presentations, and poster presentations.  It will take longer to set up the platform for these simultaneous sessions, but we will have an online forum during which you can share your work and meet with other congress attendees.  This will likely take place in December 2025 or January 2026 once our colleagues in Jamaica are able to participate.

Will I get a refund on my World Congress registration?

Our first priority is to produce the IAAH Virtual Congress Part I Thursday, November 6 through Saturday, November 8. After that, we will work with our colleagues in the Caribbean Association to determine what costs were already incurred in preparation, and what funds may be available for partial refunds in the future.  As you may realize, getting accounting information from the hotels and convention center, all of which have suffered significant damage, is a challenge as our Jamaican colleagues are focusing on pressing recovery needs.

How do I get a refund on my hotel room?

The IAAH / CAAH team is working with the Iberostar to cancel reservations that were booked through the link on our website.  If you have your confirmation number, you may also call Iberostar toll free from the US at  +1-833-399-7888 or at international numbers at this site:
Monday to Friday (06:00 to 23:00) (GMT-05:00)
Saturday and Sundays (06:00 to 18:00) (GMT-05:00).
They can also be contacted by email.

If you booked a hotel directly, please contact the establishment yourself.  Please be patient. Many of the local hotel staff, as well as the CAAH team are managing their personal difficulties in the aftermath of the hurricane.

How do I get a refund on my flight?

We recommend you contact your airline as soon as possible to find out what to do. If the airline cancels your flights, you are likely entitled to refunds to your original source of payments.  If you cancel before the airline does, you are subject to the rules or any policies the airlines apply to your tickets.
