Sheila Samiel

Sheila Samiel, MPH, Post Graduate Diploma in Education, BA is a Jamaican-born and educated public health professional whose areas of specialization are health promotion and sexual and reproductive health. She possesses crosscutting expertise in communication, advocacy, policy development, project and programme management.

 

Throughout most of her career, she has held Caribbean regional positions with PAHO/United Nations entities. Those positions required engagement of and partnerships with national, regional and international agencies to develop and implement strategies and programmes for youth, people with HIV, LGBT, and other vulnerable populations, in alignment with global gender, equality, equity and human rights frameworks.

 

Sheila acquired her MPH, Diploma in Education and BA in Literature and History  from The University of the West Indies, a Certificate in Project Management from  University of Miami.  Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an aptitude to infuse country and regional efforts with multidisciplinary thinking to contribute to sustainable public health gains for the region.
