Joi Chambers
Floor Member - CAAH

Ms. Joi Chambers is the National Coordinator - Adolescent Health, at the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) in Jamaica. She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona completing an undergraduate degree in Management Studies and went on to do a Masters in Counselling. She is now on staff at the UWI, Mona as Adjunct Lecturer for the Adolescent Health and Advocacy postgraduate diploma, Dept. of Child & Adolescent Health, UWI. Joi has worked tirelessly as co-organiser for the Annual National Adolescent Health Workshop in collaboration with the University of the West Indies Mona from 2010 – present. She has initiated and seen through to completion the establishment of the first Teen Hub in Kingston Jamaica with a second almost complete in the rural parish of St. Thomas. These serve as non-traditional, safe spaces for adolescents to access curative, educational and social services.

 

Joi is a founding member of the Caribbean Association for Adolescent Health and is the company secretary for the organization and floor member on the current Executive Council. 

 

Joi recently received an award for Excellent Work in Adolescent Health, Health Services Planning and Integration
Branch, MOHW 2023. She has also received The Children’s Advocate Award for Excellence in 2023 for her work with children and adolescents in Jamaica. Joi brings a wealth of experience and a skill set that will assist this organization
in achieving its tasks.
