Joy L Crawford, Co-founder/Executive Director at the Jamaican NGO, Eve for Life. More than 30 years as a committed visionary and advocate for the Empowerment, Safety, and Actualisation of the ‘Girl Child’ at risk for Unplanned Motherhood, HIV, and Childhood Sexual Trauma. With her team has conceptualised many best practice strategies, programmes, and interventions.
A Registered General Nurse by training, her experience spans more than 40 years in such areas as Gender-Base Violence, Adolescent Sexual Health, Project Management, HIV Programme Development and Implementation, Counselling, Training, Coaching, and Facilitation.
She is a GBV Master trainer certified, Strengthening Prevention Approaches To Address Gender-Based Violence In the Caribbean - FOUNDATIONS (UN women), Identifying Violence and First-Line Support - LIVES (CDC/PAHO) Caribbean’s
Gender Based Violence in Emergencies (UNFPA), a (JHPIEGO-trained) HIV Voluntary Counselling and Testing Master Trainer and has conducted VCT services to various organizations in the Caribbean region. She is a Clinical Supervisor (UTCWI) providing supervision for Pastoral Counselling Students. A member of The Motivational Interviewer Network of Trainers.
She has developed and co-authored several training material/manuals on Gender-based Violence, Adolescent Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS and Parenting and Motivational Interviewing.
Her life’s work has placed her in a position of one of the voices to be heard on matters of Parenting and Family Life, Gender and Sexual Violence, and Child Rights, by her peers, Government, Private Sector, Community Organisations, and International Partners.
Her passion includes GBV and HIV Advocacy, Parenting and Family Life, Women and OVCs, Adolescent Sexual Health and New Thought Principles.
